What type of Orthodontic Fixed Treatments are there?

There are many different ways to treat orthodontic issues.  The best treatment will depend on the severity of your issues. 

Braces : This is the most common fix.  Braces are bands, wires, or brackets.  Bands are fixed around the teeth and used as anchors.  Brackets are used to bond to the front of the tooth.  Wires pass through the brackets and attach to the bands.  By tightening the wires it puts tension which moves the teeth into position.  Braces are lighter, and smaller than ever.  They also have much less metal than in the past.  There are many bright colors for kids.  And clear versions for adults.

Fixed Applicants : This can be used to control thumb sucking or tongue thrusting.  They are attached using bands.  Often they are unconformable during eating.  This is for more severe cases.

Fixed Maintainers : Used if baby teeth are lost prematurely.  A space maintainer keeps the space open.
